It was the ‘battle of the diva’s as Brian put it, moody Deana versus bitchy Lydia. The girl with the ‘celebrity’ lifestyle and ‘superstar’ boyfriend, Lydia came off worse and was the next to get the boot from the Big Brother house this week.
This is a shame from a viewer’s point of view, because although Deana had the odd argument she doesn’t come across nearly as interesting to watch as Lydia. Lydia may be deluded in thinking that her fiancé failed boy band star/pop-idol contestant/ex-husband of Michelle Heaton/sister of Steps ‘star’ Lisa Scott-Lee, Andy Scott –Lee is super famous; but with her animated face and crafty back biting she made great television.
There was just something slightly fascinating about the girl, despite being a dancer and celebrity wannabe; she actually seemed slightly more than two-dimensional. At the same time like last week’s evictee Benedict, it is hard to actually get a handle on her and work out exactly what she was all about.
Yet again, one of the more interesting characters has been evicted, and slowly we are left with the dull, mundane likes of fitness obsessed himbo Luke A and whiny Essex girl Ashleigh.
The intelligence levels of the housemates continue to hit new lows, Becky said she was interested in ‘knowing anything about anything’; she also asked if swingball was ‘Olympic sport’. Ashleigh managed to even outdo this, in asking if chicken’s really did ‘come out of egg’s’. Words fail.
This week’s task involved housemates having to take part in some tricky and often gruesome tasks; including spraying each other wish fish guts, and eating jars of sweets while being spun round, in order to earn points towards the shopping budget. Then there was the ‘room of temptation’ where individual housemates were offered special ‘treats’; for instance in Lauren’s case a beauty salon pampering and a chance to spend time with her sister, which if accepted would result in housemates being deducted points. Both Lauren, and Luke A who was offered the chance to spend time with his wife, resisted this.
Lauren was not best please however when points were deducted the next morning when Ashleigh and Caroline fell back asleep after their wake-up call, making her wish she had said yes to the chance to see her sibling.
Conor went into the diary room to complete the housemates shopping list for the week, and spent over a £100 on protein shakes, and quite a lot on cigarettes also. I think Lydia’s expression spoke for us all at this point.
Aaron flirted with Sara, and mocked himself for being so awkward when he introduced himself when she entered in the house. He also talked to her about his caged fighting pursuits and compared it to ‘how you feel when you walk down the catwalk’ – as Sara is of course a model, and Aaron also having been so. Sara expressed concern about him damaging his looks. There is definitely another future OK magazine romance brewing here.
