So it was a battle between the pretty boy and the erm..squeaky voiced bailiff. I don’t think there is much surprise that it was argumentative Chris that got the viewers vote to leave the Big Brother House last night, while the easier on the eye, mirror worshipping, Aaron got to stay.
Chris James, from Luton, had gone in as a favourite to win with his ‘cheeky chappy’ persona but while making cringe worthy viewing, did not endear himself to either the housemates or the public – frequently being at the centre of conflict in the house.
Tensions have already been running high among the housemates. As Brian Dowling said in Chris’s exit interview last night – things that normally don’t happen until week 6 have kicked off from the word go.
There was an argument between Chris and Luke S, this was something to do with the food budget and the housemates having to eat fish every day or (it was pretty dull and I confessed I stopped paying attention during this)
He also had run ins with latecomer – the ‘wildcard’, crazy-bonkers larger-than-life’ Becky over her constant eating, and seemed to have a developed a real grudge towards her. Secret attraction maybe?
Chris told plumy voiced, birds nest haired Diana Vickers lookalike – Caroline, that he liked her and the housemates persuaded them to have a ‘dinner date’ within the house. Caroline was clearly horrified but politely agreed to go along with this, though later being pretty blunt in the diary room afterwards about how horrendous she found this brief experience.
The boy also had a conversation with Miss India, Deana, and asked if she fancied him – when she said ‘no, I find you funny’ he persisted – ‘I want you to be honest’. She was Chris, she really was.
He seemed to constantly get it wrong, and have this idea that he was a bit of a stud. He said in both his diary room plea to voters and in his exit interview that he was a ‘real man’ in comparison to all the gym toned hunks in there.
Meanwhile, a run-in with Deana aside, and a being made to dress up as a bird and in S&M style red rubber outfit for5 a task, Aaron seem to keep his head down a little more. Scott has a crush on him, and surely it can only be a matter of the time before he gets it on with one of the female housemates. There did seem to be a bit of flirting going on between him and the ‘birds nest’ at one point yesterday.
So what else has been going on the house? Dull Mancunian himbo Luke had been getting it on with Ashleigh, the crazy foul-mouthed Essex girl, who does seem to have calmed down a bit and started to show a somewhat softer side. She cosied up to Luke, prompting housemates to gossip that it was a ‘fake’ relationship, forged to help the two ‘go the whole way’ in the contest.
Ashleigh, Caroline, and Sara had a bit of a bitch about deep voiced, Kylie look-alike Lauren. Ashleigh was extremely miffed when the other girls said that Laura had an amazing body. Without any trace of embarrassment she actually said ‘it’s not better than my body though is it?’ No shame about vanity in this house.
Ashleigh seem to think there was some kind of issue between her and Lauren over her ‘relationship’ with Luke S. Caroline tried to peace make by talking to Lauren, who got upset that ‘no-one likes me in this house’. The two girls then spoke, and Ashleigh said she was merely concerned that as Lauren and Luke had flirted when entering the house, she might think that Ashleigh was stepping on her toes. So the girls made up…for now.
After all this Ashleigh confessed to Becky and Scott that she wasn’t really feeling it between them and while she found him attractive, was not feeling that special chemistry. Oh my, it’s all getting very complicated already.
Irish ‘hunk’ Conor, teacher turned porn star Benedict, the gangster turned good guy Adam, and the female to male transgendered Luke A, all seem to be quite low key in the episodes at the moment. Perhaps the producers are planning on homing in more on their characters later when the number of housemates are smaller, as I would think (Conor aside) – there are potentially a lot more interesting thing to find out more about each of these in comparison to the generally younger and more superficial housemates who currently appear to be at the centre of things.
It’s still to early to pick any favourites, though I am kind of liking the more subtle characters of Deena and Lydia, along with the observant and more low key Luke A – who seems unlike many of the others to have a sensible head on his shoulders. Having said that though, Lydia, when talking about her ahem, ahem superstar boyfriend Andy Scott-Lee (ex member of flop boyband 3SL, Pop-idol runner-up, and brother of Steps’ Lisa Scott-Lee) said he was ‘so down to earth’ and would ‘act just like a normal person if her were here’. Who knew, he’s that famous but he’s just like you and me.
