Big Brother: Becky’s Booted Out While Connor is Quid’s In

Connor leaves

Wow, it really was a dramatic Big Brother eviction show last night, with not only self styled ‘big bundle of fun ‘Becky being voted out, but Irish ‘cheeky chappie’ Connor also leaving with £50,000 cash – as a culmination to this week’s White Room task.

So first of all, it was no real surprise that Becky was voted out over the Luke A, Deana, Ashleigh as she had bitched incessantly and indiscriminately behind her housemates backs, and generally stirred up trouble. Becky almost could’ve been likeable, she was just too stupid – describing the only housemates left with redeemable features; Luke A, Adam, and Deana as ‘so boring’. Just because they were able to have a real conversation and weren’t amused by your childish antics Becky, doesn’t make them dull.

But more excitingly, following several days in the ‘white room’ (which was completely, erm, white, and the contestants in there had to sleep and spend all their time wearing white clothes, consuming white food and drink) Connor and Luke were given the chance to win part of the prize fund during the live show . They were given one minute in which either could press the red buzzer to win an unspecified cash amount, which would fluctuate during this minute but were told whoever decided to does this would have to leave the house immediately. If neither pressed, both would stay until the final and compete for the winner’s prize. Connor pressed when it got to £50,000 – not knowing that this would be the maximum it would have gone to anyway. He then had to exit right away, leaving Luke to return to the house with no money but a guaranteed place in the final.

Though this would be a tough decision for most people, Connor did not seemed to have too many qualms about taking the money over Luke – who had appeared to be one of his closest mates in the house. Luke was visibly upset, and said that if it had been him he would have shared the money with Connor. Connor reply to this was simply ‘it will be ok’.

He explained in his exit interview that Luke has ‘his own house, a job’ while ‘this will change my life, I have nothing – I still live at home even’. To be fair, taking this into consideration – as much as mindless thug and bully as Connor came across, you could kind of understand him grabbing this opportunity to get the cash.

Brian took him to task about his highly offensive rant at Deena in week 3, which he at least pretended to show some remorse for, and in the light of these and some of his other behaviour it does seem somewhat unfair that such an unlikeable contestant should walk away with this money.

However, this further diminished the ‘insiders’ clique – and hopefully Luke S and Ashleigh will soon be gone to.
