It was a sad goodbye for Kylie lookalike Lauren in this week’s Big Brother eviction.
It seemed very unfair that probably the two most likeable characters in there, Luke A and Lauren were up against each other. Especially as they were best friends within the house.
Meanwhile, the frankly deplorable Caroline continues to bitch, backstab and genuinely rule the roost. How are the other housemates so dumb as to be sucked in by her? The clique of Luke S, Ashleigh, Connor, Caroline, Sara, and now Scott and Becky, really smacks of the ‘cool’ kids at school who bully and ostracise those who don’t fit into their gang.
As Lauren said, whoever Caroline doesn’t like seems to end up being nominated for eviction, with the poison dwarf managed to cleverly manipulate things by going round the group bitching and whispering in turn.
The frustrating irony for the viewer is knowing that if she were up for nomination it surely must be a sure-fire bet that she would be flying out by her bird’s nest hair.
With his ‘inspirational’ female to male transgendered back story, and general good guy demeanour it was always unlikely that Luke would go, I am still backing him to win – but it was reassuring to see that Lauren was the first person this series to leave to cheers.
Her crime in the house appears to be that she is a genuine, natural, unaffected girl – who also happens to be very pretty and by her own admission ‘one of the boys’. Frankly, she is not dumb or vacuous enough to ingratiate herself with the likes of Essex girl Ashleigh or himbo Luke S.
The nominations took place face to face this week and Luke A took it pretty badly to find out that he was so unpopular among the other housemates. He became emotional in the diary room, voicing what we the viewer were seeing – that it appears that you get punished for being a good guy in house. It was clearly pushing buttons in regards to his difficult past, and you could not help but feel for him – as though he were being victimised all over again.
Isn’t it about time that Channel 5 spiced it up now, and threw a spanner in the works by sending in some new housemates as Channel 4 always did around half way through? Perhaps another gay guy to throw Scott off his perch, an uber handsome stud to unsettle the ‘alphas’ Luke S and Connor, or even better an uber bitch with a personality – to wipe the floor with Caroline.
