According to reports today Geordie singer Cheryl Cole has been approached by hit US reality show American Idol regarding possibly joining the judging panel.

The ‘Call My Name’ singer was allegedly contacted by show bosses on Monday as they prepare for current judge Jennifer Lopez’s reported departure. The latino pin up is said to be looking to spend more time with her children and is also committed to her recently announced World Tour.

If a deal is reached between Cheryl and show creators Fox, Fremantle and 19 Entertainment, we would see the singer hook up with current judging panellists Randy Jackson and the ‘demon of screamin’ Steven Tyler.

As I am sure we all remember, Cole spent a few short weeks on the panel of rival US talent show The X Factor before she was dramatically axed.
