News has broke this afternoon that former Big Brother contestant Chantelle Houghton has booted out her partner of five months Alex Reid.

Houghton confirmed the rumours earlier today via her Twitter feed tweeting “Unfortunately I have had no option but to end my relationship with Alex”.

The couple, who have recently celebrated the birth of their baby daughter Dolly, have been having numerous relationship issues over the last few months which culminated in Alex being arrested on Wednesday (Sept 5th) after allegedly using force to gain entry into their Essex home after another blazing bust up.

Just this afternoon Reid released an official statement apologising for his conduct, the former partner of Katie Price said “As a result of my own doing and through my actions, I have disappointed and hurt many of you, as indeed I have my family, for this I am truly and deeply ashamed of myself. The birth of my daughter Dolly was a profound turning point in my life. Everything that I had done previously suddenly seemed petty and small – this tiny little girl awoke something in me that I never knew existed”.

The cage fighter continued, “Since Chantelle gave me this precious gift, I really have tried to take stock of my life. I have decided that this situation can no longer persist and above anything else, I must try to become a good father and a loyal husband. I hope that you will see some redemption in me and see that underneath all that has happened, there is a decent person who means no harm to anyone”. Alex also confirmed that he will be stepping away from the public eye for a while in order to take stock and recover from recent events.
