The 25 year old beauty was one of the shows big targets for the next series due to start this autumn.

Michelle who plays fiesty barmaid Tina Macintyre in ITV1s Coronation Street turned down the BBC bosses offer, but she’ll be rewarded later this year with a big money Corrie deal.

A soap source said: “We don’t let our stars just sidestep away from thier commitments here on the cobbles to go on Strictly, especially someone like Michelle who we value so highly. She is going nowhere, and her current deal which runs out the end of the year, will be renewed soon.”

Michelle was recently nominated for best soap actress at the TV Choice Awards, is going to have some big storylines on Corrie this summer.

Terry Duckworth left Tina for dead back in May but luckily she survived her ordeal.

A source from Strictly said: “Michelle was one of a number of big names we were looking at. This year we only want huge stars.”

Strictly is due to return to the BBC this September and goes head to head with ITVs X Factor which starts next month!
