Corrie’s Betty Driver Leaves Almost £1 Million in Her Will.

Coronation Street veteran Betty Driver left almost £1 million in her will.

Driver’s estate stood at a value of £938,198 after liabilities were paid, reports UK tabloid The Sun.

The actress’s £400,000 home in Altrincham, Cheshire and most of her personal possessions were left to close friends Brian Lynch and Charles Orr.

Mr Orr was Driver’s personal assistant and closest friend at the time of her death.

Betty’s cousin, Rosemary Hirst, is believed to have benefited from the will as well, receiving half of the remaining wealth.

The popular ‘Coronation Street’ star had no children and married only once, to South African singer Wally Peterson between 1953 and 1960.

The actress played Betty Williams on the show for 42 years, appearing in more than 2,800 episodes, she was awarded an MBE in 1999 and passed away aged 91 on 15 October last year following a period of ill health.

It’s not yet known when or how ‘Corrie’ bosses will write her out of the ITV soap.
