Featuring leading Toronto musicians Michael Bongertman (vocals and guitar), Peter Anzelmo (bass) and Tony Carpino (drums), River Seven’s music, which has been likened to John Mayer and Maroon 5, has been winning fans and national airplay on Canadian radio throughout 2011.

Now with release of their new album. produced by renowned studio veteran Terry Brown (Rush, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles), it seems only a matter of time before the trio win the hearts of UK music fans too.

Lead singer Mike took some time out of his busy schedule to talk to the Bizzniz…..

The BizzNizz: For anyone that hasn’t heard your music Mike how would you describe your sound?

Mike: I suppose the easiest thing to say is classic rock with a hint of R’n'B.

The BizzNiz: Who influenced you the greatest within your path to were you are now, both personally and musically?

Mike: Personally, it was my dad, from an early age I can only remember there being instruments in the house, it was a natural thing, I never really thought of life without them. Musically I listened to a lot of Paul McCartney and Wings and would cite that as a large influence, although in terms of our sound as a band we draw influences from everything we listened to from Led Zepplin to Jason Mraz!

The BizzNiz: Quite a varied taste there, in terms of live performances, what can your fans expect to see from a show?

Mike: A lot of improvisation! we very much like to run with the flow, feel the groove and just run with things, if a solo feels right at a certain time then we’ll just do it!

The BizzNiz: Sounds exciting! What’s your plans now you’ve finished your current UK tour?

Mike: We’re heading back to the states and plan to gig quite a bit over there, write new material, spend some time in New York.

The BizzNiz: Have you any plans to come back to the UK anytime soon?

Mike: For sure, we love it over here, you guys have a real appetite for music and we can’t wait to get back playing here soon, so keep your eyes peeled for news!
