Matt Smith has revealed he will return for the eighth series of ‘Doctor Who’.

The 30-year-old star has revealed he will continue to play the title role despite having a “break” as he takes on the lead role in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut.

Matt told UK tabloid The Sun: “I’m on a break for a couple of months while I’m in Detroit making ‘How To Catch A Monster’. We come back and shoot the ['Doctor Who'] Christmas special over the summer, then we go on to the next series, which will either start filming at the end of this year or at the start of 2014.”

The actor – who has played the 11th incarnation the Time Lord since 2010 – admitted he knows there will always be speculation about his future on the science fiction favourite, but insisted he has no immediate plans to end his run, he said: “People are always going to ask because they care about the show. But I take it year by year. And this year is going to be the biggest one in the show’s history.”

When Matt was first revealed as the Doctor, his critics claimed he was too young for the role – but he explained age isn’t really an issue when the show’s bosses are casting, he added: “Could they get any young? I don’t know [if they'll go with an older actor next]. It’s a tough old show to make. There’s a lot of running around and filming for nine months of the year.
“But I just think whoever they get – whenever they get them – they’ll just get the best actor.”

We have taken the time, sad?….maybe, lunacy?….probably, to review some of the most famous movie underwear to grace the big screen. Some under garments in this article should be avoided at all costs, but others should be embraced for the sake of fashion…..

Clockwork Orange:

We really don’t recommend trying this style out, because even Superman couldn’t pull off the ‘underwear on the outside of pants’ look. The main characters of Stanley Kubricks iconic ‘A Clockwork Orange’ wear ridiculous oversized Y-front like underpants over the top of their white trousers, reminiscent of giant baby nappies. It’s certainly not an iconic underwear look by any means, and we don’t imagine this style will ever be copied by designers, but everyone remembers this awful travesty. It definitely has it’s place in movie history.

The Hangover:

This is probably a scene that you want to burn from your memory. In hit Comedy flick ‘The Hangover’, released back in 2009, the bumbling character Alan famously walks around in some very revealing underwear; most people would say it was too revealing. What appears to be relatively inoffensive briefs from the front, is revealed to show a lot of skin from behind. Hangover or not, there is never an appropriate time to walk around like this.

Risky Business:

Few can forget this famous 80s movie scene where Tom Cruise, the man of many women’s dreams, dances around in his undies. Tom wears nothing but socks, a shirt and his underpants in this movie scene and it’s a routine that has been spoofed and copied all over the world by people dancing around their homes in their underwear. This scene is an absolute classic that anyone around in the 80s will instantly know. We can also safely say, that this underwear scene is much more enjoyable to watch than the two scenes mentioned previously in this article.

Wedding Daze:

It would seem from the examples in this article that almost every actor prefers the classic men’s brief. This scene from the 2006 film Wedding Daze features a particularly sparkly pair of scarlet red briefs with a shocking white band. The character Anderson, played by Jason Biggs, proposes to his girlfriend dressed in this unusually revealing cupid costume. As if that wasn’t awkward enough, the shock of this proposal, and likely the shock of seeing that awful underwear, leads to Anderson’s girlfriend instantly falling dead. There couldn’t be a worse time to be dressed in glittery briefs.

Hopefully these examples might teach you a thing or two; there is some underwear that even actors can’t look good in, so choose your underwear wisely and always opt for designer if in doubt! You never know who will see you in your underwear, and you never know what reaction it will cause, but hopefully, if it’s good, you will avoid killing your loved ones with it like Anderson did.

Samantha Womack is returning to ‘EastEnders’.

The 40-year-old actress – who quit the soap two years ago – is to reprise her role as Ronnie Mitchell for at least six months in a storyline which sees her alter ego released from prison, where she has been held for kidnapping Kat Slater’s baby when her own little boy died from cot death.

Ronnie said: “I am thrilled to be returning to the role of Ronnie for the next six months. Ronnie is coming out of prison and her re-appearance in the Square is going to create havoc. I can’t wait to be a Mitchell once again.”

The return will see the controversial storyline brought back to the forefront as Ronnie deals with her actions, including divorcing husband Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) while in prison, and soap bosses can’t wait to see the actress back in Walford.

Lorraine Newman, ‘EastEnders’ executive producer, said: “We’re delighted to announce Samantha Womack’s return to Albert Square. The Mitchell sisters are a fabulous pairing and it will be an absolute delight to have Ronnie and Roxy back together on screen. However, Ronnie’s departure wasn’t without controversy for many residents in Walford and her return will be sure to ruffle quite a few feathers.”

Samantha returns to filming this summer ahead of a return to the screen later this year.

Sir Bruce Forsyth has confirmed he is returning to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

The 85-year-old presenter has finally quashed speculation he might not be back on the programme by revealing he is “definitely” going to co-host the 10th series this year alongside Tess Daly, and is looking forward to meeting with BBC bosses next week to discuss the show’s future at its new studios.

Bruce told TBN: “I’m definitely going to do ‘Strictly’ again. I’ve got a meeting with them but it’s more or less organised. The meeting will mostly be about where we are going to be, where the new studios will be. I would like to see the plans for that and see exactly how many people we are going to get in. I want to get into all that.”

Bruce is desperate for ‘Strictly’ to move to pastures new in a bid for the show to attract an even bigger studio audience and gain a new “lease of life”, he added: “I hope we are going to a new studio now where we will get more people in because it needs more people. The show has always needed a bigger audience and a bigger atmosphere. I’m hoping that will help the show and that will give the show another lease of life.”

The lads arrived at Wembley Stadium in London all wearing England shirts, very fitting, to announce that they will be hitting a string of stadiums across the Globe next year as part of their ”Where We Are’ Tour.

This is a major step for the band, Liam, Harry, Niall, Zayn and Louis, as they will now be playing in front of audiences 4 times the size of what they are used to. The former X Factor stars held an official press conferenece yesterday to announce the news and Liam told reporters; “We’re massively excited because there’s a lot of places around the world that we haven’t been to and we can’t wait to get over there. It’s important for the fans to know it’s not just the same Take Me Home Tour going around in stadiums. It’s going to be a much bigger show. There’s going to be some more songs”

American Idol 12 Recap: Top 2 Perform >>>

The season 12 finale starts off with the Top 10 performing “Glad You Came.” Oh, and look, Taylor Hicks, Bo Bice and Scotty McCreery are in the audience!

The Band Perry performs “Done” with Janelle Arthur joining in part way through. The Band Perry is one of my favorite country music artists at the moment; I love “If I Die Young,” and “Done” is fantastic as well.

You know how all the guys left the competition one by one in the first five weeks of the live shows, and how there hasn’t been a female winner in six years? Well, this fun filler video jokes around and shows the girls sabotaging the guys. And Jordin Sparks (the previous female winner) is the mastermind behind it all. She says it was easy because none of the guys played the guitar. Ha! Making fun of the White Guy With Guitar pattern! And her saying Idol leftovers do well on The Voice is hilarious! It goes to show that American Idol is still the only singing competition show that has produced anybody successful, and The Voice grabs onto people who have been on Idol and has them audition.

The Top 5 guys perform a medley of hits, and Frankie Valli joins in. This choreography is so cheesy! And Frankie Valli? Seriously? They just had to have a has-been on here, I guess.

Next up is a pre-recorded performance of Mariah Carey “singing” a medley of her hits, with Randy Jackson on bass. As much as I’ve hated on Mariah all season, even I know that she has one of the most unbelievable voices in the world. But yet she couldn’t sing live tonight? She was totally lip-syncing! It was kinda obvious. For someone with her voice, how can you not sing live? Well, now I’ve got something else I can hate Mariah for. Let’s move on…

Amber Holcomb performs “Next to Me” with Emeli Sande joining in. Why is she doing this song when Candice just did it recently? And is anyone else noticing that Mariah is missing? Is she trying to make it seem like she had actually just performed and just hasn’t made it back to her seat yet? Sad excuse, if that’s the case.

After a recap of all the Fiesta Movement Idol Missions, Kree and Candice have their mentors with them and give them brand-new Ford Fiestas.

Psy performs “Gentleman.” I’ll admit that I love “Gangnam Style.” But I don’t like this new single because it’s not only pretty much the same thing, but it’s like he took Gangnam Style, reworked it and released a B-rate version of the song. (And Mariah’s still missing.)

Keith Urban performs “Little Bit of Everything.” And even though this is pre-recorded like Mariah’s, at least he’s not lip-syncing.

Candice Glover performs “Inseparable,” and Jennifer Hudson comes out and joins in. The two have major powerhouse voices, with the two coming together to deliver a goosebump-worthy performance. Fantastic! The two should duet more often. I’ve always said that Candice is similar in musical style to J-Hud. (Update: Mariah’s back in her seat, but Keith’s gone now.)

Angie Miller performs “Titanium” with none other than the fabulous Adam Lambert. The two sound really great together, don’t you think? Their voices blend together well. Following this, Adam leaves and Jessie J comes out to duet with Angie on “Domino.” There’s a surprise for the third-place finisher. Since Angie had to miss out on performing her original song at the finale in order to perform with her, Jessie J’s going to fly her out to the UK so she can perform it at a show. Congrats, Angie! (Update: Umm…Nicki and Mariah are the only ones at the table–awkward!)

The next filler video sees the contestants talk about and make fun of the judges. That bit at the end with Devin and the big butt is hilarious!

Kree Harrison, Randy and Keith perform “Where the Blacktop Ends.” (Okay, that’s why the two male judges were missing.)

I think it’s kind of unfair that Nicki didn’t get to perform when all the other judges got to–heck, even Randy got to.

Randy’s goodbye tribute video stats off with a bunch of dogs at the Dawg Pound Headquarters, then segues into showing some highlights of his time on the show. When Simon left, remember that Paula came back and made a speech and all that? I’m disappointed they didn’t do that again. I know Simon is on a different show now, but wouldn’t it have been cool if he had made a special surprise appearance?

Aretha Franklin pops in via satellite from New York, and she sings with the Top 5 girls, who are on stage, on “Natural Woman,” “I Never Loved a Man…” “Respect” and “Think.” Aretha’s still got it. Unfortunately, she falls apart in the latter half and she’s slurring her words together to where you can’t really understand what she’s singing.

Next is a video tribute looking back on this journey that is season 12.

Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull perform “Live It Up.” Okay, JLo, while you’re dancing around, why don’t you just dance right on over to Mariah, kick her out and sit down in her seat.

Candice and Kree perform “One Less Bell to Answer” and “A House is Not a Home.”

Finally, it’s time for the results. The winner is American Idol season 12 is…Candice Glover! Yay!

I didn’t really want to make a prediction last night on who would win, so I just ended up reluctantly going with Kree. But I’m glad I was wrong because I was kinda hoping Candice would win.

Candice performs her new single “I Am Beautiful,” and she’s very emotional–I always love to see it when they’re crying and falling apart; is that wrong of me? She auditioned three times, and finally she gets it. Good for you, Candice!

Usually, the winners and runners-up release their albums in November or December. But this year, they’re trying something different and want to capitalize on the buzz surrounding the winner by releasing it over the summer. Candice’s debut album drops July 16. I really hope it’s good because Candice is such a phenomenal singer.

As we all know, season 12 has been quite a mess. First, they put together a judging panel with no chemistry. Then, they fill the Top 10 with weak male singers so that a girl will win. And not much else had clicked. (At least we have a deserving winner.) Randy has already quit. There are reports that all the judges will be axed. If anyone stays, I hope it’s Keith Urban. I would like to see either Jimmy Iovine or Harry Connick, Jr. be a judge; they both know what they’re talking about.

So, what do you make of these results? Did the right singer win? Should it have been Kree instead?

‘The Fall’ has scored BBC Two its biggest drama ratings in eight years.

The new psychological thriller – which stars Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan – was a surprise hit and premiered with 3.6 millions viewers on Monday night (13.05.13), making it the highest rated drama series launch on the channel since 2005′s ‘Rome’ .

Stephen Wright, BBC Head of Drama Northern Ireland, said: “I am thrilled with the audience’s response to episode one of ‘The Fall’ and delighted for Allan Cubitt who created the show.
“It is a testament to the talent and dedication of the cast and crew in Belfast where Line Of Duty, series two is currently shooting.”

‘The Fall’ focuses on the lives of two very different hunters; a serial killer (Jamie) who randomly picks out victims in the Belfast area, and a Detective Superintendent (Gillian) on secondment from the MET who is brought in to hunt him down. The gripping show is broken into five different instalments slowly uncovering the interconnected lives of both killer and victims’ families.

Ben Stephenson, Controller of BBC Drama, added: “In a week that has seen BBC Drama enjoy record success at the BAFTAs, winning seven out of eight awards, it’s particularly gratifying to see the audience reaction to the launch of BBC Two’s new original British drama ‘The Fall’ – an outstandingly imagined piece of series television.”

Tina Malone has announced she is pregnant.

The 50-year-old actress – who is known for her role as foul-mouthed Mimi Maguire in Channel 4 drama ‘Shameless’ – announced this morning (16.05.13) she is five weeks pregnant with her and husband Paul Chase’s first child together since she underwent IVF treatment.

Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, Tina – who was just 17 years old when she had daughter Danielle Malone – said: “I am pregnant. We are delighted. I think it’s important that I’m much more healthy than I was 20 years ago. I’ve had ECGs, I’ve had blood tests, we’ve had everything done. And physically, mentally, emotionally, and even financially, believe it or not, I’m better than I have been for 20 years. And I’ve got the best man or partner I could ever have. I have a beautiful, wonderful talented daughter but it would be just so nice for us to have a baby. We realise it’s early but it would just be so nice. But we are aware there can be pitfalls, we are only five weeks, and we’re ready. The more relaxed you are with IVF and the more positive you are the better.”

Tina admits the signs are there that she and Paul – who is 19 years her junior – could be proud parents to twins, and insists she would be “absolutely ecstatic” if she gave birth to a girl and a boy. The actress – who was declared bankrupt in May 2012 – added: “I’ve got indigestion already, which indicates a girl, but I’ve also put about eight pounds round my back in four weeks so that indicates a boy. So fingers crossed we’re having twins and it’s a boy and a girl. I would be ecstatic, absolutely ecstatic. I would just write books and cook and bring my babies up.”

Rik Makarem has announced he is leaving ‘Emmerdale’.

The 31-year-old actor is to depart his role of straight-laced factory boss Nikhil Sharma after almost four years in the role, and while he is looking forward to the future, he will always “treasure” his time on the ITV soap.

Rik said: “What a privilege for four years to be a part of such a brilliant show! Along with the creative team, it’s been so enjoyable crafting the many wonderful ‘under-surface’ colours and quirks to my character. I will treasure the experience deeply. When making my decision to leave, on both artistic and personal levels, I listened very closely to my heart. I’m naturally ambitious; I believe in taking risks, as that’s how we truly learn about ourselves, how we grow, and with this integrity in mind, I’m completely inspired for the journey ahead.”

The news comes just days after it was announced Sian Reese-Williams, who plays Nikhil’s wife Gennie, is also leaving the soap, though both stars will be on screen throughout most of the summer.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed an hour-long ‘Emmerdale’ episode trounced ‘EastEnders’ in the ratings on Tuesday (14.05.13). The ITV soap drew in 7.5 million while its BBC rival – which aired during the final 30 minutes of ‘Emmerdale’ – managed a peak audience of just 5.2 million viewers, its lowest figure so far this year.

‘EastEnders’ insiders blamed ITV for scheduling a deliberate clash for their poor performance, an insider told UK tabloid The Sun: “A lot of soap fans like watching ‘EastEnders’, ‘Corrie’ and ‘Emmerdale’, but if ‘Emmerdale’ starts at 7pm and is on for an hour it’s unlikely viewers will switch over halfway through for ‘EastEnders’.”
