Comic actor and star of spoof movie ‘Spinal Tap’ Michael McKean has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after being struck by a car in New York.

The 64 year old was making his way to a local theatre to star in Broadway play ‘The Best Man’ when he was hit, it is believed that Michael has suffered numerous injuries including a broken leg.

The actor played rock singer David St Hubbins in the 1984 cult classic ‘Spinal Tap’ which followed the antics of a rock band.

Two other people are also believed to have been injured.
